Update 9

Tasks done:

  • Finished the final design using weldments and McMaster Carr parts

Tasks in progress:

  • Running static studies on the two supporting structures
  • Preparing the poster and final report

Upcoming:

  • Finish static studies and the poster

Update 8

Tasks done:

  • Tested the ordered expanded metal samples and concluded to use carbon steel instead of aluminum

Tasks in progress:

  • Remodeling the ramp in SolidWorks instead of Fusion360

Upcoming:

  • Running simulations
  • Prepare for the final poster and presentation

Update 7

Tasks done:

  • Completed the design and ready to be tested with simulations
  • Ordered expanded metals sample and got approval

Upcoming:

  • Refine the design and make changes based on simulation results
  • Prepare for the final presentation

Update 6

Tasks done:

  • Discussed the designs with our partners in person to agree on the design concept

Upcoming:

  • Finish the final manufacturable design to be ready for simulations and stress tests
  • Order expanded metal samples for research purpose
  • Run simulations on the design to determine its validity

Update 4

Tasks done:

  • Discussed the designs and coming up with the most feasible and realistic models
  • Narrowed down the design into 2: modular foldable ramp and trailer-ramp assembly

Upcoming:

  • Prepare for the midterm presentation
  • Try to get the confirmation of the partner on our semester project plan

Update 3

Tasks done:

  • Came up with 7 conceptual designs for the ramp including stationary and mobile (scissors lift/ forklift) solutions
  • Researched materials and listed some possibilities: aluminum, steel, fiberglass, PVC, and Polycarbonate

Upcoming tasks:

  • Narrow down and continue to research for the list of materials
  • Refine and discuss the designs with the project partner
