Third Week 9/12

With all the information from the Richardson Animal Shelter, we brainstormed with a few ideas. Ours goals were:

  • Have stronger connecting pieces
  • Have a stronger, more stable base
  • Making the cat stand modular
  • Using a better water-resistant material than the plastic sheet used before

Our discussions resulted in one design:

  • A cat stand with a pyramid body; the body would taper as the cat stand becomes taller
  • A modular cat stand using Tetris pieces to interlock together
  • A cat stand that will have entry/exit holes for cats

Our team ran into problems on how the cat stand could be held in place. Learning from last semester’s cat stand, we did not want to use the same static joints; they were the reason why the stand broke. We also decided on using epoxy resin in order to seal our material without having the small grooves to make cleaning harder.
