About the Project:
As the first project working with FACE, it is in our interest to provide the working grounds for the group who will come afterwards. As such, we are currently in phase 1 of the project which entails automating/streamlining FACE’s process. As with any project in its initial stages, research is pivotal, which is why we are looking into a handful of CRM software to assist us. After automation is complete, phase 2 would consist of us creating a search engine which allows users to search up any offender based on key data points (name, zip code, mosque, etc.).
Semester Goal:
The semester goal is to research and create a general framework/prototype for intaking and storing documents, evidence, in a secure database system.
Tasks:
- Research extensively and visualize specifications for the database
- Find the optimal CRM software using competitive analysis
- Prototype a functional case management database
- Automate the process of creating a misconduct report

Project Manager – Jeshna Gupta
Major: Computer Science

In addition to her role as the Project Manager, Jeshna will also research potential database to use for the back-end, particularly MySQL and MongoDb, come up with specifications for the final design of the project, and use the knowledge of MongoDb and MySQL to prototype a few modules of the database and create an understanding on how to utilize the REST API to achieve this task.

In addition to his role as Webmaster, David will also research tools to utilize MongoDB with WordPress by creating a small prototype database, determine the categories of information storage during the active investigation. He will also prototype a database using MongoDB that can store alternative graphics such as pictures and audio recordings.
Financial Officer – Deesha Kumbham

In addition to her role as Financial Officer, Deesha will also create an understanding on the exact workings of the current website used by the FACE team and incorporate the completed prototypes of our proposed GUI and database code to the website. She will also research UX/UI design methods that are easy to learn and do not have a steep learning curve, as well as come up with a design framework for automation of the database system that can be continued on by the team next semester.

In addition to her role as Liasion, Sameena will also research appropriate ways to intake information over the phone and enter it into the database efficiently and present that flowchart to the client. She will also be assigned with the task of researching UX/UI design and the tools necessary to design a clean and functional UI and prototype a GUI as part of the website for the client where the information intake can take place.
Document Manager – Varun Joshi

In addition to his role as Document Manager, Varun will also help create basic databases where information can be added and retrieved, code a prototype to automatically intake information to the database which will also retrieve the information from the database, learn about utilizing the REST API, and analyze the different possible software and tools to code with by creating a spreadsheet and analyzing the benefits and shortcomings of each.
