About Our Project Partner

Kellerman Foundation

The Kellerman Foundation is a Christian, U.S. nonprofit organization founded by Scott and Carol Kellerman to help improve the living conditions of the Batwa pygmies. Currently, the goal is being achieved in three ways. First, through the Bwindi Hospital that provides the local Batwa villages as well as other neighboring towns with the necessary medical assistance. Secondly, their community outreach programs help with local education and food supply. And finally, they run a nursing school that works along with the hospital to give the young adults of Uganda a bright future in an ever expanding field.

Bwindi Hospital in Uganda

The Bwindi Community Hospital is working toward a healthy community with no preventable diseases.  They provide access to excellent health services for all.  It was founded in 2003 by Dr. Scott Kellerman who was working with the Diocese of Kinkiizi to help the marginalized Batwa population.  It is funded by the Kellerman Foundation and is a fairly modern hospital that employs many from the Batwa community and some from greater Uganda.  They have a strong emphasis on family planning and educating the community about good health practices.

Uganda Nursing School Bwindi

The Uganda Nursing School in Bwindi is an advanced-level program in a very rural region of Uganda.  They train health students from the local region and greater Uganda in important professional capacities.  This helps support the hospital and the greater community.

What their goals are

As mentioned before, this organization focuses on helping the Bwindi people in terms of their health. To do this, they provide healthcare (even help build hospitals for the Uganda people), help out with the Batwa community development, and even provide nursing education to hire more nurses in the hospitals.
