Project

Welcome to our project page!

We are a team of the University of Texas at Dallas students who are designing and building a mobility vehicle to help young children with disabilities for the non-profit organization Early Wheels. Our team is proud to contribute in providing the chance for kids to move and explore the world independently.

With our background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, our team is confident and motivated to take on the challenge to finish the prototype to help young children move around independently.

This project will challenge and strengthen our programming, CAD and electronic knowledge by learning how to code with an Arduino, understanding fundamental electrical circuit design, and use our CADing skills to further improve the design of the mobility device.

Currently, the frame, wiring, and the coding for the mobility device is complete. Our team for this semester will focus on:

  • Attaching the frame to the hoverboard.
  • Attaching the seat to the hoverboard
  • Optimize the location of the joystick
  • Create an easy-to-use charging system
  • Organize the wiring
  • Cover the frame and wiring to protect the internal workings
  • finish the build guide
  • Finish the user’s manual

If necessary, we may also need to alter the code to better fit our approach to the device.
