Vice President

  • The Student Affairs Listening Tour is underway, and meetings with Athletics and University Housing have already taken place. The Listening Tour is an opportunity for me to hear thoughts, concerns and ideas from staff in the division, and for me to share about what’s on the horizon for Student Affairs and the university. I look forward to meeting with you in the coming weeks and into early January.

Senior Associate Vice President

Professional Development

  • October 3: Stop the Bleed Training, presented by Sergeant Somer Fernandez, UTD Police, 10:30-11:30 a.m., SSA 12.471.
  • October 6: Intercultural Competencies begins (three-part series), 10-11:30 a.m., Galaxy Room A. The other two sessions are October 20, 10-11:30 a.m. SSA 12.471, and November 10, 10-11:30 a.m., SSA 12.471. Registration is required. Sessions are sequential and are scheduled to be repeated in spring 2024, providing flexibility to complete the series within the academic year. Participants must attend all three sessions to receive a certificate of completion.

Athletics

  • October 3: Volleyball vs. LeTourneau, 6 p.m., Activity Center.
  • October 7: Softball vs. Kilgore, noon and 2 p.m., softball field.
  • October 7: Women’s and men’s soccer vs. Ozarks, 5 and 7:30 p.m., soccer field.

Dean of Students

Community Standards and Conduct

  • Students referred for BAIT (15), academic dishonesty (3). Student/staff meetings (20), hearings (2).

Health & Wellness Initiatives

Center for Students in Recovery

  • October 2: Mind Over Mirror Support Group, noon-1 p.m., SSB 4.500.
  • October 2: Nourish Support Group, 1:30-2:30 p.m., SSB 4.500.
  • October 3: 12-Step Support Group, 1-2 p.m., SSB 4.500.
  • October 4: All Recovery Meeting, noon-1 p.m., SSB 4.500.
  • October 4: Prescription Awareness Day (with the Student Wellness Center), noon-1:30 p.m., Chess Plaza.
  • October 5: Nourish Support Group, 11 a.m.-noon, SSB 4.500.
  • October 6: 12-Step Support Group, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., SSB 4.500.

Health Center

  • Free flu vaccines are available to currently enrolled students by appointment only while supplies last. Clinics will be held in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms and students must schedule an appointment via the Health Center Patient Portal. Clinics are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on October 3 and October 9; 9-11:30 a.m. on October 25; and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on October 26.

Fraternity and Sorority Life

  • October 6: FSL emerging leaders program, “Solar Series,” 11:30 a.m., SU FSL Ritual Room.
  • October 10: It’s on Us sexual assault prevention and awareness event, 11 a.m., the Plinth.

Student Development

  • October 2: Graduate Student Assembly general body meeting,11 a.m., Galaxy Rooms.
  • October 2-October 18: Homefest registration for student organizations and university groups opens. Email questions to Tineil Lewis-Moore.
  • Chalk art registration for student organizations and individual students is open until all spots are filled. Prizes (up to $200 per category) will be awarded in five categories: Most Spirited/Group, Most Spirited/Individual, People’s Choice, Most Creative and Best Use of Color.
