Vice President

  • Happy Thanksgiving week! As we observe the official start to the holiday season, I hope you’re able to relax with friends and family and catch up on the things that bring you joy.
  • As a reminder, although students are off next week, the university is still open for business. All Student Affairs offices are expected to remain open and staffed Monday through Wednesday.
  • November 22: Dining Hall West is offering free lunch to all staff. A Comet Card or maintenance/housekeeping uniform is required for entry.

Senior Associate Vice President

Professional Development

  • November 27: Please join Student Affairs Professional Development Grant recipient Sean Payne, administrative assistant for the Office of Community Standards and Conduct, who will recap his participation in the Association for Student Conduct Administration’s Student Conduct 101: Pathways to Resolution training, 10-11 a.m., SSA 12.471. Sean’s presentation will provide an overview of the conduct process, review basic tools and strategies used by student conduct and CARE team professionals, and give insight into how staff members can get involved.
  • December 13: Student Affairs Holiday Luncheon, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., DGAC Ballrooms and Inspiration Hall. Please register by 5 p.m. on November 29. Optionally, please consider bringing non-perishable, unexpired food donations for the Comet Cupboard.

DEI Initiatives

  • December 1: Join us for a screening and discussion of the movie Just Mercy, 9:30 a.m., SSA Auditorium. Discussion and lunch immediately following in Galaxy Rooms A & B. If you are interested in attending, please complete the registration form. Contact Brooke Everette with questions.

Athletics

  • November 20: Women’s basketball vs. Southwestern, 6 p.m., Activity Center.
  • November 21: Men’s basketball vs. Hendrix, 3 p.m., Activity Center.
  • November 25: Men’s basketball vs. Southwestern, 3 p.m., Activity Center.

  • November 20-December 3: The Activity Center Natatorium will be closed for deck repairs. The pool will reopen at 7 a.m. on December 4.

  • December 4: Deadline to volunteer for the Late-Night Final Exam Breakfast.

  • November 20-22: SU/SSB/SSA open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; November 23-24: SU/SSB/SSA closed; November 25: SU/SSB open 10 a.m.-8 p.m., SSA closed; November 26: return to regular building hours.

  • November 20: Transgender Day of Remembrance, noon, SSB 4.300.
  • November 21: Tea Tuesday Employee Appreciation, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Mario Kart tournament 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., SSB 4.300.
