Vice President

  • March 20: Division meeting, 10 a.m., SSA Auditorium and Gaming Wall. Attendance is mandatory.

Senior Associate Vice President

Assessment

  • Student Affairs Assessment Leaders offers a free online course, Applying and Leading Assessment in Student Affairs. The eight-module course is self-paced and allows participants to move through all sections or to participate only in those of interest.

Professional Development

  • Short for “Staff That Are Remarkable,” the STAR Award is given annually to honor the outstanding performance of professionals within Student Affairs, including for leadership; advising and supporting students; assessment, evaluation and research; and service to staff, a department or the division. As many as five staff will be honored with the award at the annual Student Affairs Awards Ceremony in May. Recipients will receive a framed certificate and a $500 cash award. Nominate for the STAR Award before March 31.
  • Awarded monthly, Out of this World staff demonstrate everyday excellence–including innovating or developing a creative program; providing exceptional service to students; or navigating a difficult problem. Nominate an Out of this World staff member
  • Intercultural Competencies, a 3-part series, is set for April 5, April 19 and May 3, 10-11:30 a.m., SSA 12.471; registration is required. Presented in partnership with Intercultural Programs, this training focuses on reflecting and understanding the basics of interculturalism and how culture impacts interpersonal communication, professional relationships and the services we provide to our student population. Participants must attend all three sessions to receive a certificate of completion.

Center for Students in Recovery

  • Support groups will resume the week of March 18.

Student Wellness Center

  • April 2: Out of the Darkness Campus Walk with the Student Wellness Center and the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, 6 p.m., the Plinth. Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 that will be used towards suicide prevention efforts in North Texas, to raise awareness about mental health resources and to create unity among the Comet family and local communities. To join and create a team, visit the AFSP website, select “Register Now” and enter your contact information. Next, select “Join a Team” and search for UT Dallas Student Affairs. Once you’ve registered, you can share the walk website and link with anyone interested in donating to the cause. Reach out to Kacey Sebeniecher with questions.

  • March 14: Cultural trip to Annie: The Musical, 6 p.m., Winspear Opera House, Dallas.

Student Development

  • March 26: Student Organization Center Annual Spring Fun’Raiser, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., SU Mall area.
  • March 11: RSVP deadline for Comets Remember, 11:59 p.m.
  • March 18: Leadership Awards nominations close, 11: 59 p.m.

Office of Student Volunteerism

  • March donation drive: book drive benefitting the Plano Public Library.
