Spring 2022 Project Goals

These are our goals for the semester:

  • Our goal is to be able to connect the database to the frontend. Since our existing algorithm tries to find the most efficient route for each driver, we want to use our database to query routes and pass it into the algorithm. This information should be displayed to the end user.
  • Our goal is to implement the SvelteJS framework as the frontend component for Trusted World employees to be able to edit the routes for delivery drivers. Since none of the team members have experience using SvelteJS, we would have to overcome this obstacle by reading SvelteJS documentation. We are most likely going to SvelteKit. We want our developers to be accustomed to this framework by next week. We expect the implementation of the frontend components to be finished by the end of April. This is a possible list of components we must implement:
    • Ability to edit/move routes
    • Navigate button to redirect to Google Maps
    • Integrate database to the frontend and display specified route using Google Maps API

Past Semester Goals

Fall 2021

These are our goals for the semester:

  • Create an algorithm that suggests delivery routes for Trusted World vehicles using order, client, and vehicle information as input.
  • Develop a simple user interface that displays the route information generated by the algorithm and gives certain users the ability to manually change the route orders if they need to.
Spring 2021

The project entails developing an application to maximize throughput of Trusted World’s donation collection, fulfillment, and distribution operations. Our understanding of Trusted World’s operation (optimized by our application) is as follows:

  1. Items are donated from various sources and sent to the Trusted World fulfillment center.
  2. Items are sorted by volunteers.
  3. An agent (shelter, police station, school, etc.) places an order online for a particular consumer (person in need).
  4. The volunteer packages items tailored to a particular agent.
  5. Each package is given a barcode containing the quantity of items in the package and a printed invoice. One additional invoice is printed and retained for Trusted World’s records.
  6. The package is shipped to its destination. Upon arrival, the driver will scan the package and confirm that its destination is correct.
Fall 2020

The goals for this semester are to design and implement the Client Order Page, this includes the front-end and back-end. This semester’s team will complete the design for the Client Order Page and let next semester’s team continue implementing the page, specifically the back-end logic.

Spring 2020

Our project goal is to create fully functioning client portal by the end of Spring 2020.

Tasks

•Work closely with Project Partner to understand needs
•Continue the development of app
•Work on Inventory Tracking System, printing integration, mobile scanner, client web interface, etc.

Fall 2019

Project – Aquaponics

Our project goal is to make an aquaponics system, growing food and fish to prove its viability. The construction process and operation instructions shall be photographed and documented for widespread dissemination, specifically to third world countries.

This semester, our team shall design, prototype, and document an aquaponics system, ready to start growing food. We shall design an easily reproducible, but effective aquaponics system. We shall construct an example of the designed system, capable of growing fish and plants.
