Carson’s Village
Automated Family Page

Background
After losing his 11-year old son, Jason Dyke realized there was no organization in the U.S. whose mission was to compassionately support families with the tough decisions that must be made after losing a loved one. At present, bereavement services in the U.S. are under-developed and driven by the funeral-home industry. Jason Dyke founded Carson’s Village, a nonprofit organization, to help families navigate through the loss of a loved one. Carson’s Village hopes to provide a live Advocate to support a family through the funeral or cremation and keeps in touch with the family for up to a year to aid with healthy grieving. In 2023, 2,200 families were served nationwide with comprehensive help during the mourning process, including resources, advice, and doable aid. Carson’s Village is dedicated to relieving the burden on families at their most difficult times, without imposing any financial obligations. Assistance with funeral arrangements and COVID-19 restrictions are just a few of the services provided.

Project Description
Carson’s Village produces a family page to honor the families of a loved one going through loss. The family page includes information, images, and donations for the family. The project centers around automating the family creation page process so that it is easier to use for the Advocates or the family creating the page. Our project team and Carson’s Village work together because we both want to make it easier for bereaved families to cope.

The ultimate project goal is to create an automated, user-friendly system for creating/reviewing family pages and managing donations. The needs that this particular project needs are: website development, UI/UX development, database design and implementation, server design and implementation, financial transactions/processing and data security.
