Batteries and Energy to Advance Commercialization and National Security (BEACONS)

Energy Storage Systems Campus (ESSC)

ESSC will provide US government organizations and the US energy storage industry with the technology, infrastructure, and workforce critically needed for a resilient domestic supply chain and manufacturing base, from raw materials such as critical minerals through finished energy storage systems.

ESSC’s Objectives

  • Enhance raw material availability
  • Optimize current systems
  • Accelerate next generation systems
  • Develop and expand the manufacturing workforce

With premier campus space for the Energy Storage Systems Campus in North Texas, UT Dallas is well-placed to execute full-scope creation, design, development, demonstration, and professional instruction across the domestic energy storage systems supply chain.

This one-of-a-kind Energy Storage Systems Campus is designed to reshore the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries, as well as to assist in the development of new capabilities in new battery chemistries, production, and workforce via a range of performers.
