Lights, camera, action: The stage is set along the Margaret McDermott Mall for Homecoming 2021.

Homecoming 2021 at The University of Texas at Dallas will look and feel different this year, but the event Feb. 10-13 will offer both in-person and virtual opportunities for the campus community to engage and show off its Comet spirit.

“We wanted to create an event that would lift the school spirit for students who are either taking classes on campus or studying remotely this semester,” said Tineil Lewis-Moore, assistant director of the Student Organization Center. “Our theme this year is ‘I Love UTD’ because we want all our Comets to know that wherever they are, they are loved, and we want to give them the opportunity to reflect on what they love most about UTD.”

A Homecoming Kickoff Kit Pick Up event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Residence Hall West and Residence Hall Southwest. Students will receive a UTD-themed kit that includes T-shirts, tumblers and school-spirit M&M’s.

Students on campus can participate in a socially distanced Chalk Art Contest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, on the mall just south of the Chess Plaza.

This year’s scaled-back Homecoming Shoebox Parade will be broadcast via Microsoft Teams on Feb. 12. Voting for entries in the Homecoming Door Decorating Contest also will take place the week of Homecoming.
