To be considered for admission to the Electrical Engineering masters or doctoral program, applicants should meet the following guidelines:
Master’s admissions requirements: An undergraduate preparation equivalent to a baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution of higher education in the U.S. or from an acceptable foreign university.
Required GPA: A grade point average (GPA) in upper-division quantitative coursework of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 point scale.
Doctoral admissions requirements: A master’s degree in electrical engineering, or a closely associated discipline from an institution of higher education in the U.S. or from an acceptable foreign university. Consideration will be given to highly qualified students wishing to pursue the doctorate without satisfying all of the requirements for a master’s degree.
Required GPA: A grade point average (GPA) in graduate coursework of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 point scale.
Students from other engineering disciplines or from other areas of science or mathematics may be considered for admission to the program; however, additional coursework may be necessary to complete the graduate program.
Submit your online application form and required documents by specified deadline.Only admissions applications with complete and legible documents are sent to the graduate admissions committee for review and decision.

After applying online, you can track the status of your graduate application online through your UTD Galaxy/Orion self-service account. The descriptions of your application status are found at the bottom of the link. All updates to your application status on Orion are programmed by the Admissions Office, not the ECE Graduate Program.
After providing your documents, your application status on Orion will not change immediately. Please allow the Admissions team time to review your submissions and update your student account. You can email your questions regarding your application status to admission@utdallas.edu.
