This is ANTHO.
Antho is a floral catalog app made for incoming florists and plant lovers! This all-in-one application allows users to design floral arrangements, learn about the history of flowers, understand how to care for plants and learn about the design and colors of floral arrangements. This app will inspire users to grow and enhance their creativity and passion for floristry and plants.
Research
I interviewed local florists within the Richardson, TX area about their career and passion towards floristry. I wanted to know what advice these professionals would give incoming florists and what they wished they could have done differently when they started their career.
Several professionals wished they had a peer 1:1 mentor when learning floristry and how to take care of plants. They also mentioned how they would know about floristry, design, and the history of plants online through several websites. Taking care of and learning how to grow plants was the most difficult as it relied on heavy experimentation and trial and error. This opened my eyes to how taxing and difficult it is to become a florist. So, based on this research, I wanted to create a tool to help florists make their learning and experimentation easier so they can focus on what they do best – growing and designing beautiful, creative floral arrangements.
"Floristry is like art; there is a lot of trial and error.
I had to learn everything independently, which took up much of my time."

Antho is short for the Greek prefix meaning “Flower.” One word it is used is Anthomania, which means “an obsession with flowers,” which is what passion in floristry is all about.
Since the app name comes from a Greek prefix, I decided to make the theme of this app all about Greece. The ancient Greeks used flowers in religious customs and crafted florals into garlands, wreaths, and laurels. Greek mythology also uses many flowers within their stories, so I wanted to combine this into the brand design.
Within the design of the logo, I wanted to use the Greek daffodil. This daffodil represents Narcissus, a hunter known for his beauty who fell in love with himself. He later pined away and regrew as a beautiful yellow daffodil. I wanted to include this flower as it represents Greece and its iconic mythology. I surrounded the flower with Greek-like designs (shown throughout the app) to bring the Antho name together.
The color palette I chose consisted of monochromatic blue hues to represent the colors of Greece. Each app feature has another standing-out color to make the feature unique and communicate its functions through color.
