Born into a life of luxury with a silver spoon in her mouth, Maeve enjoyed a world filled with diamonds and gold. However, she yearned for something different. Longing for a college experience straight out of the movies, Maeve fulfilled her dreams by gaining admission to a public university far from home. Maeve soon realizes that the wild sororities and extravagant parties she had imagined are nothing more than a myth. Whether it's the people or the academics, Maeve discovers that college life is nothing like what she had seen in Hollywood films. In this Comedy/Drama comic, Maeve and her friends must navigate the ups and downs of college life and the raw emotions that come with becoming young adults.

Behind the Scenes
Creating College Anthropology
College Anthropology began in 2020 as a concept to document my college experience. Although I didn't revisit the series for a while, I made it my Capstone, my final Senior Project, to help reignite my passion for art. Transitioning to College Anthropology has revived my love for art and various creative mediums.
Creating Characters
Mauve Richards
Mauve Mae Richards is the Protagonist of the series. Bubbly, kind, and outgoing, she hails from a wealthy family in California with a history of elementary beauty pageants that turned into modeling when she was a teen. Not getting the typical high school experience due to private school, she moves to a high-end University in Texas, Pistol Beach University, to get her degree in Fashion Design. Even though Mauve is well-liked by her peers, her ignorance and gullibility get her into tricky situations that make her grow up quickly.
When first creating Mauve, I wanted an innocent and hopeful character who would learn from her mistakes and experiences as the comic continues. Even though he has her character development, her idea of living life to the fullest will never wither. In her first Character design, I wanted to ensure that she looked noticeably preppy and neat. Many of her outfits are very symmetrical, and her hair is always parted the same way in any style.
Below is some preliminary artwork done in 2020-2021 of Maueve and some of the variations she has undergone over time.
In Mauve's Journey, we will run into many other characters who have their trials and tribulations. Many of them will come with their backgrounds, experiences, and personalities. Many of the characters will be inspired by people in my life, allowing them to get their story out as well.
