Vikram Ratan

Hello there, I am Vikram from Hyderabad, India. I have pursued my bachelors in electronics and communication engineering. I started my career as an intern at a start up called SuperHealthy International Pvt Ltd. While working at SuperHealthy as a business analyst for 1.5 years, I understood the importance of making data driven decisions. After extensive research I joined MSBA at UTD in Spring 2023 to enhance my analytical skills and it has been nothing but an amazing journey. The BALC team has been a huge support in the transitioning as I did not have much technical experience. I enjoy cooking, dancing, learning new things, and meeting awesome folks. And being part of BALC team, I look forward to sharing my experiences to help fellow comets, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Jason Nguyen

I am a graduate student studying business analytics with a focus on data science at the University of Texas at Dallas. I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and have a particular interest in data and analysis of said data. I am confident in my analytical experience as I have worked within a research lab and have organized large social events that have many revolving parts. I have an interest in analytic and presentation positions, human resources, and management. I am skilled in networking, organization, research, public relations, presentation, and have intermediate knowledge of R and PowerPoint.
You may wonder why a student previously studying psychology has pivoted towards business analytics. One of the aspects that initially drew me to psychology was its emphasis on data analysis and its application to real-life situations: how it revealed underlying reasons behind human behavior. However, when it came to potential career paths within psychology, I found them to be less appealing. I did not envision myself as a therapist or someone conducting extensive field studies. It gradually became clear to me that I had a genuine interest in delving into the intricacies of business, spanning from financial matters to managerial aspects. I recognized how my enthusiasm for social psychology and data analysis could be seamlessly integrated into the realm of business.

Hello to you! My name is Carolina, and I come from the small and beautiful land of El Salvador. I got my Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Emory University and I worked as an analyst for a Hispanic media company. This is where I got my first real taste of the power of data-driven decisions—and I had to know more, so here I am now at JSOM! Because of my non-technical background, I quickly turned to BALC for support in my journey, only to find the best bunch of people ready to help. I enjoy cooking, art, learning new things, and meeting awesome folks—so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
